episode 11 this is no agenda from
  • 0:28
northern Silicon Valley where it's a
  • 0:30
    beautiful day in the neighborhood
  • 0:31
I'm still not gonna see the movie I'm
  • 0:33
John see Devorah Sunday he's not
  • 0:39
    inspired that's great there goes 3 4 5 6
  • 0:45
    7 8 9 10 10 cars or so there you go
  • 0:51
    thank you for that report
  • 0:53
you're welcome yes alright just in time
  • 0:57
so we both got an experience upgrade
  • 0:59
with our Skype I just wanted to say one
  • 1:05
    thing that I don't understand I after
  • 1:09
that huge upgrade just before the last
  • 1:11
show yeah the giant windows upgrade so
  • 1:15
now when I click on if I open outlook
  • 1:17
which I use for email any link did I
  • 1:21
click on it does not open the browser
  • 1:23
does not open this link I get a dialog
  • 1:26
box that says something unexpected rent
  • 1:29
went wrong with this URL and it gives me
  • 1:32
the URL and that says the file or
  • 1:35
    directory is corrupted and unreadable
  • 1:37
what the hell is that no idea I got it
  • 1:41
I've got one what did you get I get mine
  • 1:44
is I looked it up - this started
  • 1:48
happening after that big upgrade you're
  • 1:49
talking about yeah so I go so here's
  • 1:52
what I do I've got one of my printer I
  • 1:56
get Photoshop or or fan view whatever it
  • 1:58
is I go to print and it immediately
  • 2:01
prompts me to save the file
  • 2:03
instead of printing oh really and it's
  • 2:06
not like a PDF printer that's selected
  • 2:08
or something well first I thought it was
  • 2:10
    something sketchy
  • 2:13
they just need a reboot because this has
  • 2:16
been happening you gotta you gotta shut
  • 2:17
it down shake it and then reboot it and
  • 2:19
see what happens like an etch-a-sketch
  • 2:20
so i rebooted it didn't change anything
  • 2:23
let me try Photoshop I went to Photoshop
  • 2:25
same thing hit the print but it goes it
  • 2:29
says save to file your prints pool no
  • 2:35
doubt or something okay a lot of people
  • 2:42
it's happened before is this note was
  • 2:45
from 2012 trying to print a document and
  • 2:48
the printer props to save the file
  • 2:49
instead of printing it goes on it could
  • 2:52
somebody help and there's no the help is
  • 2:53
bullcrap there's no help as usual and
  • 2:56
all these online when it comes to
  • 2:58
Windows there's no help I just I just
  • 3:01
    recommend before we always recommend
  • 3:02
here on the show just jiggle the handle
  • 3:04
a little bit one of the solutions was
  • 3:09
this reinstall the printer drivers oh
  • 3:16
you you print a lot of stuff are you
  • 3:19
whining I want to make sure this was
  • 3:21
phenomenon that was just something to do
  • 3:24
with the printer and I rebooted it yeah
  • 3:26
so I went to the browser
  • 3:28
let me just print a browser page yeah or
  • 3:31
let me take the document that I was
  • 3:32
gonna print in or a fan view and just
  • 3:35
grab it and throw it under the browser
  • 3:37
where it's now printable okay so I hit
  • 3:40
the print button on the browser printed
  • 3:42
    fine huh great
  • 3:48
    [Music]
  • 3:56
there you go there's Fletcher exactly it
  • 4:02
    sucks
  • 4:03
anyway that's so much for our tech news
  • 4:06
this morning very happy to bring that to
  • 4:08
the everybody that's right well we had a
  • 4:10
another shooting in Texas yesterday mass
  • 4:14
shooting and this news I was watching
  • 4:20
that football yeah well it was big here
  • 4:23
of course well what the report that came
  • 4:25
out first was two shooters one in Odessa
  • 4:28
one in Midland the Midland is right to
  • 4:31
the west of Texas and Odessa is down the
  • 4:34
road further to the west of Texas so
  • 4:36
they the first reports were you know 30
  • 4:39
    shots two different shooters two
  • 4:41
different cities of course you know this
  • 4:44
was not what it turned out to be and I
  • 4:48
tuned into what station was this it was
  • 4:51
the Odessa television station we know
  • 4:54
that one part now these guys are in the
  • 4:56
mall where there was no shooting but
  • 4:59
they're in the mall it's one of those
  • 5:01
setups where you have offices and etc
  • 5:03
and radio stations used to have that I
  • 5:05
guess this TV station people can look
  • 5:07
through the window and see the TV studio
  • 5:09
we know that one person has been taken
  • 5:11
into custody that's all we know we don't
  • 5:12
know about person that may have also
  • 5:15
been involved there are multiple scenes
  • 5:17
around town a lot of people saying is
  • 5:19
videos of officers here and there we're
  • 5:22
just seeing people oh we're running
  • 5:24
through the most right going on over
  • 5:25
here we're not sure what's going on at
  • 5:27
the mall we probably need to get off
  • 5:32
what happened here is people started
  • 5:36
running past their windows so they panic
  • 5:47
everywhere now five people did get
  • 5:51
killed and we don't know very much about
  • 5:52
it other than or at least as of this
  • 5:54
morning it was one guy who was pulled
  • 5:57
over on the road between Midland and
  • 6:00
Odessa traffic stop he gets out shoots
  • 6:03
the cop right away and then dry
  • 6:04
to Odesa just shooting people on the
  • 6:06
highway and i don't know what what
  • 6:09
weapon he was using it seems like if
  • 6:11
you're driving and shooting yeah a
  • 6:15
handgun might be easier but he killed
  • 6:17
five people and wounded at least 20
  • 6:19
    others while driving
  • 6:21
apparently and then he stole a mail
  • 6:23
truck and that's where they ultimately
  • 6:25
got him and they got him in the mail
  • 6:27
truck and they shot him dead so we may
  • 6:30
never know exactly what was going on but
  • 6:32
thank goodness Beto O'Rourke right away
  • 6:34
went out to to go and politicize
  • 6:37
everything so always about politics it's
  • 6:40
not about these families these people
  • 6:44
the people affected know right away we
  • 6:46
got to go to politics cuz and then you
  • 6:48
do it with us into your face like Beto
  • 6:49
and then you know what when you're on
  • 6:51
CNN throw in some of your curse words
  • 6:53
he's been really good at that lately and
  • 6:55
he seems to be gaining traction the
  • 6:57
rhetoric that we've used the thoughts
  • 6:58
and prayers that you just referred to it
  • 7:01
has done nothing to stop the epidemic of
  • 7:03
gun violence to protect our kids our
  • 7:06
fans no stop so people are now bitching
  • 7:08
and moaning they've been doing this for
  • 7:09
a while about and it's mainly Democrat
  • 7:13
    Twitter were yelling at Republican
  • 7:15
Twitter and it goes something like this
  • 7:22
    they're all bitching about these
  • 7:24
thoughts and prayers the very same
  • 7:26
people when a celebrity dies will say
  • 7:29
r.i.p love and light you know it's it's
  • 7:33
kind of stupid the epidemic of gun
  • 7:34
violence and to protect our kids our
  • 7:37
families our fellow Americans in public
  • 7:39
places at a Walmart in El Paso we're 22
  • 7:42
were killed in Sutherland Springs in a
  • 7:45
church one or two a day all over this
  • 7:47
country a hundred killed daily in the
  • 7:50
United States of America we're averaging
  • 7:52
about 300 mass shootings a year mass
  • 7:57
shootings determined as what is it three
  • 7:59
or more people hit by gunfire in one
  • 8:04
incident I think this very is a very low
  • 8:07
standard no other country comes close so
  • 8:10
yes this is fucked up and if we don't
  • 8:12
call it out for what it is
  • 8:14
    oh yeah
  • 8:16
don't care man he'll just say whatever
  • 8:18
he needs to say just to you out about
  • 8:20
yeah I would send in a complaint to the
  • 8:22
FCC Amy yes this is fucked up it's
  • 8:24
closed so yes this is fucked up and if
  • 8:27
we don't call it out for what it is if
  • 8:29
we're not able to speak clearly if we're
  • 8:31
not able to act decisively then we will
  • 8:33
continue to have this kind of bloodshed
  • 8:35
in America and I cannot accept that and
  • 8:38
so we're gonna sleep as defiantly and as
  • 8:41
strongly as we can but we're also gonna
  • 8:43
    take action
  • 8:43
universal background checks so I thought
  • 8:47
that would be good I so for the end of
  • 8:48
show yes this is fucked up what do you
  • 8:53
think yeah you got something better
  • 8:54
    maybe I don't have any I didn't find any
  • 8:57
    I suppose I didn't learn anything I
  • 8:59
don't like it okay it's been one for two
  • 9:03
I can give you ten reasons but I can
  • 9:04
give you two good ones one is beta world
  • 9:07
Rorick one reason is enough what is to
  • 9:11
    do yeah I don't like the word I don't
  • 9:14
like the term no the second one is it
  • 9:16
makes it sound like that word it's a
  • 9:17
    commentary on the show
  • 9:20
I'm sure better would say the same thing
  • 9:22
about our show what to say that he'd
  • 9:26
love to be the guy saying that at the
  • 9:28
end of our show so I just stayed on bed
  • 9:31
oh because he was and of course this is
  • 9:33
not far from El Paso El Paso is just a
  • 9:35
little bit more West from Odessa and I'd
  • 9:39
followed him around and he's just
  • 9:42
throwing out a mean fest of ideas that
  • 9:46
have a list more than I worry about the
  • 9:49
politics or the polling more than I care
  • 9:52
about what the NRA has to say on this I
  • 9:54
care for my kids and this country and
  • 9:57
people who live in terror every day
  • 9:59
people in El Paso Mexican Americans and
  • 10:02
say I feel like I have a target on my
  • 10:03
back I'm afraid to go out in public
  • 10:06
kids who thinking about going to school
  • 10:07
    tomorrow having gone through active
  • 10:11
    shooter drills already know which
  • 10:12
bookcase they're gonna pull down which
  • 10:13
window they're gonna jump out of this is
  • 10:15
not right and we should not accept it
  • 10:17
and we should be honest with ourselves
  • 10:19
    universal background checks will help
  • 10:21
ending the sales of weapons of war will
  • 10:22
help weapons of war this is
  • 10:25
no nukes but if millions of them remain
  • 10:29
on the streets they will still be
  • 10:31
    instruments of terror instruments of
  • 10:34
terror weapons of war instruments of
  • 10:36
terror he should have said tools of
  • 10:38
terror that terrify and terrorize us
  • 10:40
    terrify terrorized instruments of terror
  • 10:43
and take our lives but what about not
  • 10:44
    gonna accept them
  • 10:45
but what about the kind of world why is
  • 10:48
he not going do so would it help a so is
  • 10:56
his town that got shot up you know a
  • 10:58
couple weeks ago well it's better he's
  • 11:02
better old dynamic that USA Today the
  • 11:05
editorial board is putting in there that
  • 11:07
if you go too far that it'll kill the
  • 11:09
whole thing this this is about the gun
  • 11:12
buyback that he wants to do a mandatory
  • 11:14
gun buyback and which of course is the
  • 11:17
definition of infringing and creating a
  • 11:21
law about the right to bear arm ok the
  • 11:23
editorial board is putting in there that
  • 11:25
if you go too far that it'll kill the
  • 11:27
    whole thing this this triangulation
  • 11:30
    calculation poll testing every move
  • 11:33
that's what got us here in the first
  • 11:34
place I listen to those students from
  • 11:37
parkland Florida March for our lives
  • 11:39
that came out with a bold plan for peace
  • 11:41
that talks about many of the measures I
  • 11:43
just described a national gun registry
  • 11:46
licensing for every American who owns a
  • 11:48
firearm use that gun for self-protection
  • 11:51
to hunt to collect to shoot at target
  • 11:55
practice but you don't need an ar-15 and
  • 11:57
    ak-47 I got a question
  • 11:59
I keep hearing 8 or so ar-15 we all know
  • 12:02
    what that is it's it's a semi-automatic
  • 12:05
rifle that looks very scary the
  • 12:09
necessarily night yeah well I want to
  • 12:12
focus on the ak-47 this is thrown about
  • 12:15
very easily I don't believe these are
  • 12:18
    actual fully automatic ak-47s floating
  • 12:21
around in the country am I wrong about
  • 12:23
this is there I don't know of anyone who
  • 12:25
    has a fully automatic ak-47 ar-15 that's
  • 12:32
fully automatic either no but I'm just
  • 12:35
    saying that when you say
  • 12:37
a k47 that is the classic coalition a
  • 12:41
coffee it's a very simple gun and it
  • 12:43
does single shot or automatic and they
  • 12:46
just throw that out next to ar-15 but I
  • 12:49
don't is there a market in the US I
  • 12:53
    don't I don't I never got the
  • 12:56
implication that it was a machine gun
  • 12:57
what so my question is is there a
  • 13:00
separate line of ak-47s that are
  • 13:04
    single-shot only and I don't believe
  • 13:08
that exists and I think an ak-47 is an
  • 13:11
ak-47 which can be used fully automatic
  • 13:15
any way that I have no idea someone
  • 13:17
would get best we I don't believe that
  • 13:19
    to be true
  • 13:20
because it's illegal to have an
  • 13:21
automatic hugely cool that is a weapon
  • 13:24
of war designed to kill people as
  • 13:26
efficiently as effectively and as great
  • 13:28
a number as possible that that high
  • 13:30
    impact high velocity rounds it
  • 13:32
distributes its entire kinetic energy in
  • 13:34
your body and destroys your insides we
  • 13:37
talked to the surgeons who treated the
  • 13:39
victims in El Paso many of them had been
  • 13:41
on the battlefields in Iraq in
  • 13:43
Afghanistan they said these are wounds
  • 13:45
of war how many likes the alliteration
  • 13:47
does any weapons of war tools of
  • 13:49
terrorism wounds of war now this is all
  • 13:54
    desperate
  • 13:55
it's horrible of course but but I just
  • 13:57
want to say something to people who
  • 13:58
listen to our show to get kind of
  • 14:00
highlights and not be drowning under the
  • 14:03
dreck that is shoveled on top of you by
  • 14:06
the mainstream while horrible and while
  • 14:08
crap and a super day wrecker there's
  • 14:11
probably five other people that died in
  • 14:13
these two towns in on the same day from
  • 14:17
other for other reasons then what
  • 14:21
happens is if you and I I pulled up the
  • 14:23
statistics in 1990 to 2017 of violent
  • 14:28
crime in the United States and I know
  • 14:30
this is an argument that's used all the
  • 14:32
time but I just want to add something to
  • 14:34
it so in 1990 we were looking at 729
  • 14:40
    violent crimes per 100,000 people
  • 14:45
in the United States and that graph that
  • 14:47
    goes
  • 14:48
to 2017 where we're at 382 point nine
  • 14:54
violent crimes per 100,000 people and
  • 14:58
you animate the graph is it's like the
  • 15:00
it's like looking at the climate gate
  • 15:02
graph in Reverse but what's happened
  • 15:06
    since 1990 or really since 1995 let's
  • 15:09
give it a fair number is our access to
  • 15:12
media has skyrocketed and the channels
  • 15:14
that stuff is coming in it's just
  • 15:16
everywhere and what gets focused on is
  • 15:18
the stuff that scares us and you know
  • 15:22
I'm think that there was a lot more
  • 15:24
violent crime going on decades ago but
  • 15:27
you didn't hear about it or you didn't
  • 15:29
hear about it quickly there wasn't such
  • 15:30
an onslaught and it really is messing up
  • 15:33
our brains even I have you know this is
  • 15:36
a couple mass shootings in Texas not
  • 15:38
that far away so you start to think and
  • 15:41
you know kids start to think well when
  • 15:43
is it my turn when when I'm just gonna
  • 15:45
be in the wrong place at the wrong time
  • 15:47
we're being terrorized and if it's
  • 15:49
    really I think it's probably getting a
  • 15:54
223 as shot at you is not healthy but
  • 15:58
this is also a slow death for people
  • 15:59
    it's very very unhealthy and I don't
  • 16:03
know what to do about it but I just
  • 16:04
wanted to say we need to put this into
  • 16:09
    perspective because that's all they
  • 16:10
focus on is these types of deaths
  • 16:12
there's all kinds of things that happen
  • 16:14
bad stuff happens to good people every
  • 16:16
single day but we just terrorized
  • 16:18
    everybody terrorized the kids terrorized
  • 16:20
everybody that's all that they seem to
  • 16:23
love yeah they do and I think it's mass
  • 16:31
shootings air accidents these kinds of
  • 16:34
things knew they always made the news
  • 16:36
but for instance did you hear about 10
  • 16:40
teenagers shot in an Alabama High School
  • 16:43
football game yesterday no no no of
  • 16:45
    course not
  • 16:46
first of all black so it doesn't count
  • 16:48
oh sorry you're black we can't unless
  • 16:51
was a white guy shooting yet no so they
  • 16:54
don't even don't even focus on that to
  • 16:56
us I I've said this since day one of
  • 16:58
this show people moan and groan about
  • 17:00
all these shootings they never even
  • 17:02
talk about Auckland which is this one of
  • 17:04
    the shooting capitals yeah people
  • 17:06
getting shot all the time but it's
  • 17:08
terrorism the true tool of terrorism is
  • 17:11
the m5m the mainstream media is the tool
  • 17:14
    of terrorism
  • 17:15
it's terrorizing our own people yes now
  • 17:21
there is something that's read it if it
  • 17:24
leave if it leaves it bleeds is what
  • 17:26
you're literally know if it bleeds it
  • 17:30
    leads yeah there we go
  • 17:31
as in the lead so but now there's a new
  • 17:35
term that has popped up which I heard in
  • 17:39
conjunction with the big town hall in
  • 17:44
    Austin regarding the homelessness
  • 17:46
situation the unhoused and the term is
  • 17:50
behavioral health so we have mental
  • 17:53
health and we have behavioral health
  • 17:55
have you heard of such a difference well
  • 17:57
okay I can actually I did I got an
  • 18:00
actual answer to that the article I have
  • 18:04
    here from Alvar Nia University
  • 18:09
    behavioral health versus mental health
  • 18:11
    what's the difference so behavioral
  • 18:14
    health describes the connection between
  • 18:16
behaviors and the health and well-being
  • 18:19
of the body mind and spirit
  • 18:22
this would include how just summarize I
  • 18:25
should be exercising more is that what
  • 18:27
we're talking about here I'm not sure
  • 18:29
this would include how behaviors like
  • 18:31
    eating habits drinking or exercising
  • 18:33
impact physical or mental health however
  • 18:37
during the 70s and 80s behavioral health
  • 18:40
    almost entirely referred to behaviors
  • 18:42
that prevent illness or that promote
  • 18:44
health later the term began to include
  • 18:47
    behaviors that help people manage
  • 18:48
    disease most recently behavioral health
  • 18:51
incorporated mental health I'm not quite
  • 18:54
it does that doesn't really explain
  • 18:56
anything to me but they the least F I
  • 18:59
was after the show on Thursday which I
  • 19:05
really I wanted to considered going to
  • 19:08
this big town hall but a I was tired and
  • 19:11
B I found out they were gonna have a
  • 19:13
    video taped anyway and
  • 19:15
once you see that you have to fill out
  • 19:17
you know ten pages of forms just to get
  • 19:19
a question asking like now that this is
  • 19:21
not I'm not going to go there so I
  • 19:23
watched all two hours what a shit show
  • 19:25
the City of Austin so we had the mayor
  • 19:28
we had the I'd say the Financial
  • 19:31
    Comptroller we had representative from
  • 19:33
    APD from the police department
  • 19:35
they had a moderator you know so they
  • 19:39
had a panel of eight people and I'm one
  • 19:41
of these hippie hipster moderators you
  • 19:43
know the kind you bring into your
  • 19:44
company now here's some big rocks here's
  • 19:46
some little rocks now what do we put him
  • 19:48
first the big rocks are the little rocks
  • 19:49
you know one of those guys so he was
  • 19:51
doing the the moderation they also had a
  • 19:53
    community advocate and so they're
  • 19:56
talking and then I just wanted to play
  • 19:58
this on a single clip from from this
  • 20:01
two-hour session where you can hear the
  • 20:04
attitude of the city and how they feel
  • 20:08
    about people experiencing homelessness
  • 20:11
which by the way if they didn't have to
  • 20:14
use that whole sentence every single
  • 20:16
    time people experiencing homelessness it
  • 20:19
would have taken them only an hour and a
  • 20:20
half to get through this meeting it's so
  • 20:22
cumbersome just say people who are
  • 20:24
homeless that's a lie by the way
  • 20:26
    experiencing homeless they're not
  • 20:28
    experiencing they're homeless to
  • 20:31
experience homelessness if you if you
  • 20:32
sleep on the street for a day it's like
  • 20:36
and it's not so it's not supposed to
  • 20:38
hurt their to be right is this new world
  • 20:45
maybe a theme song anyway just listen to
  • 20:49
this this is the community I think first
  • 20:51
we will hear from the guy from Austin
  • 20:56
Police Department and we'll get to the
  • 20:57
community advocate you'll hear it soon
  • 20:59
enough so Chris you're a community
  • 21:00
advocate you work directly with homeless
  • 21:02
why do you care about this visual God
  • 21:04
    because this shouldn't exist because
  • 21:08
it's a form of extreme poverty that
  • 21:10
should not happen in the richest country
  • 21:13
in the history of human civilization
  • 21:15
and I believe that you know we we have a
  • 21:18
duty we have a responsibility as a city
  • 21:21
and as fellow citizens to make sure that
  • 21:24
everyone is housed and has what they
  • 21:26
need ultimately to get by day to day so
  • 21:28
chief you have some thoughts on this
  • 21:29
maybe safety I want to just reinforce
  • 21:33
the importance of calling us when you
  • 21:37
    see that suspicious behavior because
  • 21:38
although we may not be able to take any
  • 21:41
specific action in that instance we
  • 21:44
already a to driven Department we do
  • 21:46
collect data on where things are
  • 21:47
    occurring where crimes occurring yeah
  • 21:49
just this is a quick interruption there
  • 21:52
before all this started they were asking
  • 21:55
about the loss there it has there been
  • 21:57
an increase in crime since the city
  • 22:00
ordinance was lifted and you can camp
  • 22:02
anywhere except for in front of City
  • 22:03
Hall of course and the the guy from the
  • 22:08
police department was saying well we
  • 22:10
don't have any data to show that but
  • 22:13
what he meant was we actually don't have
  • 22:15
any data we have no data they have zero
  • 22:18
data on these past six weeks but that
  • 22:20
got reported here in Austin is no proof
  • 22:23
you know one of those deals it's really
  • 22:25
    despicable with it
  • 22:27
I want to just reinforce the importance
  • 22:31
of calling us when you see that
  • 22:33
    suspicious behavior because although we
  • 22:35
may not be able to take any specific
  • 22:38
action in that instance we are a
  • 22:40
    data-driven department we do collect
  • 22:42
data on where things are occurring where
  • 22:44
crimes occurring when it's occurring and
  • 22:46
that's how we deploy our officers based
  • 22:48
on both time and location so it's
  • 22:51
important to note when these things are
  • 22:53
happening about us yeah I also just want
  • 22:55
to make sure that we really start to
  • 22:57
    identify what criminal activity means
  • 22:58
and what it is people just being in a
  • 23:00
place because they have nowhere else to
  • 23:01
    be it's not a crime
  • 23:03
I think it's really starting to focus so
  • 23:09
what the lady is screaming here is yeah
  • 23:11
if I have too many people at my house
  • 23:13
    it's against the law it's considered a
  • 23:15
party and I have to break it up but okay
  • 23:17
it's alright these people couldn't do
  • 23:18
whatever they want this is this is the
  • 23:20
this is the public versus the people
  • 23:23
running the city on stage in a place
  • 23:25
because they have nowhere else to be
  • 23:26
    it's not a crime I think it's really
  • 23:30
starting to focus really starting to
  • 23:35
focus on hands you know no one no one's
  • 23:38
up here advocating for people build us
  • 23:40
all other folks or be able to be
  • 23:43
aggressive in nature we would now wait
  • 23:44
for the for the for the community
  • 23:46
advocate except we wouldn't expect that
  • 23:48
from our community from our house
  • 23:50
community so we don't expect it from
  • 23:51
    people experiencing homelessness so
  • 23:53
there we just have to really be able to
  • 23:54
identify what it is that we're talking
  • 23:56
about when we discuss criminal activity
  • 23:57
    if something looks like criminal
  • 23:59
activity you know that's not actually
  • 24:01
mean that it is criminal activity is
  • 24:03
just people living there doing heroin
  • 24:07
that's not criminal the question as well
  • 24:16
because this people that are that are
  • 24:20
camping in your neighborhoods are your
  • 24:21
    neighbors too
  • 24:25
    [Applause]
  • 24:32
and I think it's clear that we need to
  • 24:35
it's clear that the city needs to it's
  • 24:39
clear that the city needs to provides
  • 24:41
additional resources to help limit the
  • 24:43
impacts on house neighbors of camping
  • 24:46
which also is gonna really help people
  • 24:48
that are camping currently to live in
  • 24:51
more sanitary conditions do you notice a
  • 24:53
    trend here you're not homeless
  • 24:55
    you're camping completely different
  • 24:58
you're a neighbor of your house neighbor
  • 25:01
of someone who's camping which also is
  • 25:04
gonna really help people that are
  • 25:05
camping currently to live in more
  • 25:08
    sanitary conditions and be healthier
  • 25:10
themselves and so I really do support
  • 25:12
    immediately providing those sorts of
  • 25:14
things trash pickup I take 35 dollars a
  • 25:16
month for my trash pickup two
  • 25:18
    porta-potties and other types of
  • 25:20
services but I think it's really
  • 25:21
important to understand that you know
  • 25:23
people in your neighborhoods are your
  • 25:25
neighbors and and I know a lot of folks
  • 25:29
are feeling victimized by people camping
  • 25:31
their neighbors but almost every single
  • 25:35
one of those folks would switch places
  • 25:36
with you if they could we're all trying
  • 25:44
to get to a place where we can to live
  • 25:46
together and live together well sad
  • 25:50
thing is this people in the audience who
  • 25:52
were all in with this jamoke oh yeah
  • 25:55
yeah I will say this just as an aside at
  • 25:59
least the sound was good it took a while
  • 26:04
to find a version with the sound that
  • 26:06
was good believe me and I only had four
  • 26:08
    views no one cares
  • 26:10
I've seen most of these four views -
  • 26:17
somebody's oh yeah there's a lot of that
  • 26:21
there's a lot of that so a couple things
  • 26:23
so this behavioral health I heard a lot
  • 26:27
camping is good camp Watson you're not
  • 26:29
they're not homeless they are neighbors
  • 26:31
who are camping and neighbor Shane and I
  • 26:34
think the biggest cop-out of all and our
  • 26:36
mayor uses that a lot is we all have to
  • 26:39
work together you know why because when
  • 26:41
it doesn't work when we did not work
  • 26:42
together I know there were certain
  • 26:44
    elements who didn't work together
  • 26:45
with us it's like ah anyway here's the
  • 26:49
here's a a television report by the way
  • 26:53
before you continue uh I want to say
  • 26:56
because Mimi's involved in City Council
  • 26:58
    work in Port Angeles hmm
  • 27:02
welcome to the USA they're all like this
  • 27:05
the City Council specifically you mean
  • 27:08
yes I've in fact she's always bitching
  • 27:10
to me she's I said no I said they're all
  • 27:16
like this they're all second-rate it is
  • 27:20
really pathetic because it should be the
  • 27:22
    foundation of the country
  • 27:23
yes I know it's a bunch of use usually
  • 27:25
egomaniacs and people who write because
  • 27:27
nobody else wants to run that yet to
  • 27:29
blame the public at large and it's and
  • 27:32
    they're all corrupted there's a this
  • 27:34
    minor corruption it's like petty
  • 27:35
corruption it permeates all the City
  • 27:38
Council's from San Jose the Port Angeles
  • 27:42
to Duluth I'm sure lutely for Berkeley
  • 27:47
deep in the heart of Texas is one of the
  • 27:51
you know flying little capital cities of
  • 27:54
    the world
  • 27:54
yeah it just is it it's I don't know
  • 27:57
what to tell you and I don't know what
  • 27:59
what you can do about it well find
  • 28:01
people who want to run with the better
  • 28:04
message and support um I guess and are
  • 28:05
they not in our district but they had to
  • 28:08
    pay more
  • 28:09
what do you mean pay more they don't pay
  • 28:11
enough money for these people $76,000
  • 28:16
every council member uh most places is
  • 28:20
next to nothing like nothing in many
  • 28:25
places volunteer work yeah well they're
  • 28:27
getting seventy six thousand dollars on
  • 28:29
the next City Council Austin Texas yep
  • 28:31
every single member I looked it up
  • 28:33
because I wanted to see if it was worth
  • 28:34
it it's not we get beaten up okay it
  • 28:40
maybe if I could do the podcast you
  • 28:42
could do the podcast and be the city
  • 28:44
council person unfortunately I know what
  • 28:46
would happen you'd be bitching and
  • 28:47
moaning so much it was the show the
  • 28:50
    podcast Austin City Council podcast
  • 28:53
    we're not gonna do that
  • 28:55
but I will support anyone who wants to
  • 28:56
rouse this who we have here Garza I
  • 28:59
think I'm gonna get some guy here so
  • 29:03
here's the news report on the city's new
  • 29:05
plans we've changed things a little bit
  • 29:07
everybody we're working together like a
  • 29:09
team we want to update you on the city's
  • 29:11
    plans for creating more homeless
  • 29:13
shelters in Austin first there's the new
  • 29:16
shelter coming to South Austin off of
  • 29:18
Ben White Boulevard the city approved
  • 29:20
spending a little more than eight and a
  • 29:22
half million dollars to buy an existing
  • 29:24
26,000 square foot office building there
  • 29:27
and to turn it into a shelter council
  • 29:30
members are adamant that this will not
  • 29:32
be a drop-in shelter like the arch but
  • 29:34
this plan isn't going over well with
  • 29:36
some who live nearby the petition
  • 29:38
against it has more than 5,700
  • 29:41
signatures so far and the other shelter
  • 29:44
is the Salvation Army the Salvation
  • 29:47
Army's new ARAG Gaber on tan hill lane
  • 29:50
in East Austin it's meant to house
  • 29:52
families with children and even though
  • 29:54
there was a ribbon-cutting ceremony for
  • 29:56
it in June no one's living there now The
  • 29:58
Salvation Army still needs money and an
  • 30:01
    occupancy certificate from the city
  • 30:03
before people can move in city leaders
  • 30:06
have long said the way to fix
  • 30:08
    homelessness is to address affordable
  • 30:10
    housing needs
  • 30:11
most recently the city approved buying
  • 30:13
    300 new affordable homes and
  • 30:15
specifically 140 of those will be for
  • 30:18
    people who are homeless have
  • 30:20
    disabilities or have other critical
  • 30:22
    needs
  • 30:24
now I understand when you're talking
  • 30:26
about a pipeline of homelessness and
  • 30:28
people who actually just fall off the
  • 30:31
edge because of a medical situation or
  • 30:34
something else and it can happen shoot
  • 30:36
it could happen to me quite easily
  • 30:38
although I of course I married to keep
  • 30:40
or so you know be okay but four years
  • 30:43
whew I made it four years living on the
  • 30:47
edge you know it's like what were the
  • 30:49
donations be who knows you you missed
  • 30:50
two shows and your D platforms or
  • 30:53
something like that and then it becomes
  • 30:56
a problem I understand that and I think
  • 30:59
there's probably a good reason to have
  • 31:00
some temporary housing for people and
  • 31:02
families to help him catch up so they
  • 31:04
can figure it out but we're talking
  • 31:06
    people who've been homeless unhoused
  • 31:09
experiencing it for eight years nine
  • 31:13
years twelve years they live they live
  • 31:16
effectively outdoors and now they're all
  • 31:19
just coming in into the city hey we can
  • 31:22
camp there why not it's a lot closer to
  • 31:23
everything is where I can get drugs if I
  • 31:25
want them and I'd said it's very very
  • 31:29
sad and before you know it we'll be like
  • 31:31
Philadelphia help was on the way to deal
  • 31:33
with the hepatitis A outbreak it began
  • 31:35
with the Health Department declaring a
  • 31:37
    public emergency the emergency
  • 31:39
declaration is really to call the health
  • 31:41
care community to partner with us
  • 31:43
rapidly to administer vaccine to as many
  • 31:46
of these folks at risk as we can as soon
  • 31:48
as possible to quell this outbreak since
  • 31:50
January a hundred and fifty-four people
  • 31:52
were diagnosed with hepatitis A compare
  • 31:55
that to twenty one cases in all of 2018
  • 31:58
    officials wanted vaccinated those most
  • 32:00
at risk drug users and people who are
  • 32:03
    homeless vaccinate them against
  • 32:04
hepatitis A and protect them from
  • 32:06
getting this so that we can stop this
  • 32:07
outbreak in addition to the pop-up
  • 32:09
clinics like this one this week in
  • 32:11
Kensington to McPherson Park the city
  • 32:14
    will install hand-washing stations in
  • 32:16
the next couple of weeks to help contain
  • 32:18
this contagious virus the city also
  • 32:21
intends to provide public toilets and
  • 32:22
public facilities a great idea to keep
  • 32:25
    us safe and
  • 32:27
for health and body skinny daddy don't
  • 32:30
send the body because it is slowed down
  • 32:32
this emergency will stay intact until
  • 32:35
the commissioner believes that it is
  • 32:36
contained now a madman shooter is one
  • 32:39
thing it's definitely something to be
  • 32:41
afraid of but this really scares me and
  • 32:44
this is what we were predicting in San
  • 32:46
Francisco they would just be floating
  • 32:47
around everywhere now it seems to be
  • 32:49
    happening in Philadelphia
  • 32:51
well there's hepatitis A there is
  • 32:54
cholera there's a number of other
  • 32:57
ailments that all come from transference
  • 33:00
via poop mm-hmm and you have in Texas
  • 33:03
I'd be more concerned there than
  • 33:06
anywhere mainly because it's when the
  • 33:09
poop dries out and then becomes dust oh
  • 33:12
we are it's dusty here he will breathe
  • 33:15
it and you're breathing poop that's
  • 33:17
contaminated probably or maybe or maybe
  • 33:20
not and the next thing you know you have
  • 33:22
a real problem on your hands and there's
  • 33:24
nothing you're gonna do about it
  • 33:25
overnight what does hepatitis A duty to
  • 33:28
you actually what what is there what
  • 33:29
blows out your liver oh well I might
  • 33:32
need that I mean what might need that I
  • 33:36
might need my liver now is can you
  • 33:42
because there's a vaccination against it
  • 33:44
apparently Cain is there a cure it's
  • 33:49
chronic oh you don't get rid of it no I
  • 33:53
don't think so then geez hmm so on that
  • 33:56
upbeat note how you doing you got
  • 33:59
    anything because that's that's
  • 34:00
    everything from Texas today we're
  • 34:02
shooting people we've got people camping
  • 34:05
it's beautiful well looks like the
  • 34:10
pac-12 still sucks packed well uh
  • 34:12
anybody else needs to know that little
  • 34:14
    piece of tidbit information
  • 34:16
    what's a pac-12 yeah never mind it's the
  • 34:20
football league out here oh okay
  • 34:23
college college football began okay well
  • 34:27
there's a mother I got some clips from
  • 34:29
some interesting things we might at
  • 34:30
least get the Hong Kong update out of
  • 34:32
the way cuz there's a new twist I
  • 34:33
    thought was very creative
  • 34:34
cuz as you know in Hong Kong during
  • 34:36
these riots the Hong Kong they've got
  • 34:38
they got the umbrellas out this would
  • 34:40
things bounce off the umbrella yeah yeah
  • 34:42
they put a cone on top of the gas
  • 34:46
canisters and then pour water on there's
  • 34:48
a bunch of things going on but this
  • 34:49
little new one has got this load they've
  • 34:51
    - this is I like this authorities banned
  • 34:54
today's March but tens of thousands of
  • 34:56
    demonstrators gathered at government
  • 34:57
    headquarters the protesters armed
  • 34:59
    themselves with makeshift weapons and
  • 35:01
shields as they confronted police who
  • 35:03
fired blue tinted water from cannons to
  • 35:05
mark the protesters this weekend marks
  • 35:07
the 13th week of unrest and falls on the
  • 35:10
five-year anniversary of a decision by
  • 35:12
China to limit democracy in the
  • 35:14
    semi-autonomous territory that
  • 35:16
    announcement launched a 79 day
  • 35:18
occupation of Hong Kong streets by
  • 35:20
    pro-democracy demonstrators known as the
  • 35:23
umbrella movement why did they you'd why
  • 35:25
do they choose blue hot bright yellow or
  • 35:30
bright blank wouldn't you want something
  • 35:32
good I don't know what you would want
  • 35:35
you have your spring Asians who have
  • 35:40
brown skin and you want something to
  • 35:42
show up on a brown skin maybe the blue
  • 35:44
dye works I don't know but I thought the
  • 35:46
idea of shooting diet because this is
  • 35:48
what those dye packs doing to bank
  • 35:50
robbers yes you know you put a date to
  • 35:53
dumb bank robbers they put a bunch of
  • 35:55
money in a bag and put a dye pack in
  • 35:57
there and then it explodes all over them
  • 36:00
throws dye all over the ball over the
  • 36:02
money I had a one of those bills once by
  • 36:04
the way I mean it still you still take
  • 36:06
cash for me but it's or dial over the
  • 36:09
money and then throws dye all over you
  • 36:11
and it's just stuff that doesn't come
  • 36:13
off for a month they have they do that
  • 36:15
with clothing net tags as well now they
  • 36:17
also have dye dye bombs things that they
  • 36:22
unclip before you leave the store yeah
  • 36:24
so if you try to hammer it yourself it
  • 36:26
won't it'll hammer on you basically
  • 36:31
and and it also ruins the garment so it
  • 36:34
can't be returned for cash which is
  • 36:35
really the scam which is what most
  • 36:37
people want to do I want to take it and
  • 36:39
they want to return it I bet there's a
  • 36:41
very high percentage of women in in the
  • 36:43
United States who frequently go to a
  • 36:47
store buy an outfit wear it for the
  • 36:50
evening keep the tag on and return
  • 36:52
you kidding it's almost every woman I
  • 36:55
work with all the broadcasting people
  • 36:58
I've ever worked with in the Bay Area
  • 37:00
all of them do that all of them not one
  • 37:04
or two there used to be a place across
  • 37:07
from me vo that was up on the other side
  • 37:10
the street up and over it was on the
  • 37:11
corner it was some fancy dancy place and
  • 37:15
everybody would go over there and they'd
  • 37:17
grab a garment they really the height
  • 37:19
they have tape they tape up to the old
  • 37:21
tags and they were on the air they could
  • 37:25
have expensed it what's the problem
  • 37:28
nobody expenses clothes either have a
  • 37:31
dart unit was my company I would have
  • 37:33
    signed off on it
  • 37:35
no you wouldn't believe me if you were
  • 37:38
signing off on the clothes you're broke
  • 37:44
how dishonest yeah they'd go over there
  • 37:48
    well aware of this
  • 37:52
men don't do this no men don't do this
  • 37:55
you don't care but all the women do and
  • 37:57
they they take they get a little piece
  • 37:59
of tape they tag the thing up and they
  • 38:01
go and they do its thing on the air you
  • 38:03
know we had this a tech TV and we had a
  • 38:06
lot a lot of women and they've all did
  • 38:09
it one time they didn't do it as much as
  • 38:10
they did a meteo but they did it one
  • 38:12
time or they all did it all of them and
  • 38:15
they would go and they'd say that's
  • 38:17
really nice yeah I got it so so I think
  • 38:18
I'm probably gonna take it back but I
  • 38:21
was gonna keep it and they take his
  • 38:24
stuff back is very common with a lot of
  • 38:27
women especially that wasn't working in
  • 38:29
broadcasting and it's not like I'm just
  • 38:31
scandal oh well I just kind of noticed
  • 38:35
this hmm interesting well this morning
  • 38:45
just came back to Hong Kong there was
  • 38:48
more chaos this is reporter just picked
  • 38:50
up from this morning just to give us the
  • 38:51
most recent news hundreds of protesters
  • 38:54
    gathered outside Hong Kong's
  • 38:55
    International Airport on Sunday as
  • 38:57
pro-democracy rallies showed no signs of
  • 38:59
    abating the demonstrators are determined
  • 39:02
to carry on their campaign despite
  • 39:03
    increasingly violent calm
  • 39:05
    concessions with police and warnings
  • 39:07
    from Beijing dangerous everyone who's
  • 39:10
out here today is prepared to be
  • 39:11
arrested dangerous isn't an excuse you
  • 39:15
    shouldn't ignore what's happening
  • 39:16
because we think it's dangerous and let
  • 39:19
Hong Kong fall by disrupting air and
  • 39:21
train services the protesters once again
  • 39:23
    focused international attention on their
  • 39:25
    actions
  • 39:26
he said the gathering was illegal and
  • 39:28
    warned of a dispersal operation
  • 39:30
did you see the the footage of the of
  • 39:32
the Train where the riot police are just
  • 39:34
hammering on people they just wait for
  • 39:37
the doors to open and go in and kick
  • 39:38
their asses yeah those are trains from
  • 39:41
China yeah I think these are all Chinese
  • 39:44
from the mainland and meanwhile we've
  • 39:46
got military buildup which Beijing says
  • 39:50
it's just regular rotation nothing to
  • 39:52
see here they got tanks they got all
  • 39:53
kinds of stuff rolling around in the
  • 39:55
    neighborhood I don't know if they've
  • 39:57
always been there but it seems like it's
  • 39:59
kind of being under played by the media
  • 40:02
well we'll find out soon enough to see
  • 40:04
well they again it may go on to October
  • 40:07
so they have their celebration then come
  • 40:09
in and kick ass by the way I was
  • 40:12
watching this was like a couple of weeks
  • 40:14
ago and I've been trying to find it I
  • 40:16
didn't take good enough notes but there
  • 40:20
was Christina Amanpour some PBS thing
  • 40:23
where she interviews four or five people
  • 40:24
yeah and her anxious way and they had
  • 40:28
some Democrat on there who was talking
  • 40:30
about the Chinese Hong Kong riots
  • 40:32
claiming that they were they were
  • 40:34
    protesting Trump's racism and I can't
  • 40:39
for the life of me find this clip oh but
  • 40:44
I threw it out there anyway unproven so
  • 40:49
anyway yeah anyway we'll see I mean the
  • 41:02
reporting is just all kind of the same
  • 41:04
but it's been spinning this way for a
  • 41:06
while so I think it's very important
  • 41:08
what happens for Chinese man for tour
  • 41:11
Hong Kongers yes the Hong Kongers is not
  • 41:15
this constant it's the Hong Kong
  • 41:18
while you define everything of course
  • 41:20
there's other some other protests going
  • 41:23
on there's some dissent I get a PBS
  • 41:25
report dissent in Russia Oh what was
  • 41:29
this about in Moscow today thousands
  • 41:31
March to protest rules that bar some
  • 41:33
    opposition candidates from running for
  • 41:35
    City Council marchers at the
  • 41:36
    unauthorized rally held up pro-democracy
  • 41:38
signs and chanted quote Russia will be
  • 41:40
free protests over the September 8th
  • 41:43
election began in mid-july including a
  • 41:45
    permitted rally that attracted about
  • 41:47
    60,000 demonstrators the recent protests
  • 41:49
over the city council vote are the
  • 41:51
largest showing of dissent in Russia in
  • 41:53
more than five years I can hear a lot of
  • 41:55
talk where I'm reading a lot of talk
  • 41:57
about you know Putin maybe on the outs
  • 41:58
and how much longer can he hold on to it
  • 42:00
we really don't know a lot about how it
  • 42:02
works in Russia know who's really
  • 42:05
running the media yeah orange man bad
  • 42:10
yeah there were protests over the
  • 42:13
weekend in Boston at the straight Pride
  • 42:17
Parade which yeah this was kind of
  • 42:20
interesting and I did get an email from
  • 42:22
one of our producers who said do you
  • 42:24
want I was there on the anti on the
  • 42:26
counter protest do you want a report I'm
  • 42:28
like yeah I say well yeah I still
  • 42:31
    haven't received anything so I don't
  • 42:32
know what's going on but I have two
  • 42:34
reports one just before and one after a
  • 42:38
post Pride report I just listen to how
  • 42:42
this was set up and there's an
  • 42:43
interesting gaffe in this one to Emerson
  • 42:45
students are moving in but tomorrow the
  • 42:48
college warrants of a disruptive or even
  • 42:50
dangerous event taking place on the
  • 42:52
    streets directly outside the street
  • 42:54
Pride Parade it honestly just really
  • 42:56
scares me I think a straight Pride
  • 43:00
Parade is nothing but you know pride
  • 43:02
    masquerading as hate these so-called
  • 43:06
what is wrong with these people
  • 43:08
but she said instead of hate
  • 43:11
masquerading as pride she says it's
  • 43:14
pride masquerading as hate and they lit
  • 43:18
again and they left it in which is very
  • 43:20
    odd to me
  • 43:21
Kelly outside the street Pride Parade
  • 43:25
honestly just really scares me like I
  • 43:27
think a straight Pride Parade is nothing
  • 43:30
but you know pride masquerading as hate
  • 43:32
    these
  • 43:34
what is that about I think it was just a
  • 43:37
follow-up I kind of Miss heard it the
  • 43:39
first time I heard that's why I had to
  • 43:40
play it again I think they were just
  • 43:43
rushing the report out and they've been
  • 43:45
in the Edit room and they just let that
  • 43:46
one go by and nobody picked it up at any
  • 43:49
level yeah which is really all conduct
  • 43:51
    concerns me more than anything
  • 43:52
you got a banker reading it you got
  • 43:55
somebody editing it you got a good eye
  • 43:57
in the control room and nobody picks
  • 43:59
    this up do ya
  • 44:03
the guy who smokes weed everyday picks
  • 44:06
it up straight Pride Parade is nothing
  • 44:08
but you know try masquerading is hey
  • 44:10
these so-called street pride parade is
  • 44:13
in response to Gay Pride events
  • 44:15
John Hugo is one of the organizers
  • 44:17
celebrating our own sexual agenda and
  • 44:20
    traditional American values they don't
  • 44:23
    deserve our attention Arlene Isaacson
  • 44:25
    co-chairs the Massachusetts gay and
  • 44:27
    lesbian political caucus she stresses
  • 44:29
    straight people have not been
  • 44:30
    marginalized throughout history for
  • 44:32
their sexuality so it's silly to say
  • 44:35
that they need a straight Pride Parade
  • 44:37
when candidly straight pride takes place
  • 44:40
365 days a year there is exactly the
  • 44:43
problem and I understand that what these
  • 44:45
people are trying to organize is
  • 44:46
provocative and understand it's kind of
  • 44:49
like hey you know straight lives matter
  • 44:52
too can't just be all about the the
  • 44:54
small marginalized groups but of course
  • 44:56
it's being it's being interpreted as
  • 44:58
like you're Nazis of course crazy parade
  • 45:02
begins at Copley Square and ends at City
  • 45:04
Hall with speakers organizers have a
  • 45:07
    four-hour permits starting at noon
  • 45:09
Boston Police are expecting more counter
  • 45:11
demonstrators to the parade than actual
  • 45:14
parade participants of course they go
  • 45:15
out and they talk to these freshmen who
  • 45:17
are just coming in to Emerson College
  • 45:19
hey listen straight gay we're all gonna
  • 45:21
be on this stuff together I'm doing that
  • 45:22
this guy because of the potential
  • 45:24
    volatility police are restricting
  • 45:26
parking what people can bring and there
  • 45:28
will be lots of officers Emerson College
  • 45:31
has even canceled an event and
  • 45:33
    restricted access to certain buildings
  • 45:35
students plan to use the dorms along the
  • 45:37
route for their own message people were
  • 45:39
talking about like hanging there gay
  • 45:41
pride flags out the window which I'm all
  • 45:43
    for and
  • 45:44
yeah we're all against it so I just the
  • 45:54
possibility that a whole bunch of
  • 45:57
straight sis normal gender fluid and
  • 46:03
fluid whatever people just want to have
  • 46:06
a parade without you know having a just
  • 46:11
have a parade because these days it's
  • 46:14
not it being a gay parade even the st.
  • 46:16
Patrick's Day parade has become kind of
  • 46:18
a gait breaker there with all the gay
  • 46:20
here comes two gays st. Patty's Day
  • 46:22
parade errs yeah I mean the last person
  • 46:27
once to have a parade was Trump who
  • 46:29
wanted a yeah before the July parade
  • 46:31
what a tank for eiated you know there's
  • 46:38
this story which was a local news outlet
  • 46:40
in Vermont this is the crazy University
  • 46:43
of Vermont hate sticker story which is
  • 46:47
permeating the East Coast along with the
  • 46:49
with the straight parade stuff well to
  • 46:52
be this is the most I was just jaw
  • 46:55
dropped for me maybe I'm so out of time
  • 46:57
much now I have to assume I'm completely
  • 46:59
out of touch well class is back in
  • 47:01
session at UVM but it's not the
  • 47:03
welcoming most students wanted just not
  • 47:06
kind and now this campus stands for yet
  • 47:08
again three hate speech stickers were
  • 47:10
found posted in areas of campus this
  • 47:12
    time displaying messages like better
  • 47:15
dead than red and Keep America American
  • 47:18
I actually think that's kind of scary
  • 47:20
because this is a really diverse campus
  • 47:22
police say the group responsible goes by
  • 47:25
the Patriot Front which has been
  • 47:27
recognized by the Southern Poverty Law
  • 47:29
Center as a hate group the various
  • 47:31
stickers pushes a message of white
  • 47:33
nationalism it could be a dog whistle
  • 47:35
this is no new issue this comes nearly a
  • 47:38
year after similar stickers by the same
  • 47:40
group were found on UVM's campus and
  • 47:43
just weeks after more stickers were
  • 47:45
found posted in various areas of
  • 47:47
    Burlington UVM now working with
  • 47:50
    Burlington police and
  • 47:51
with the FBI but for students this isn't
  • 47:55
the start to the semester they were
  • 47:56
anticipating I don't think any of the
  • 47:58
faculty appreciate it I don't think the
  • 48:01
majority of the student body appreciate
  • 48:03
    it
  • 48:03
UVM police hoping this will be the last
  • 48:05
of a group looking to cause division
  • 48:08
concern about a group like that being
  • 48:09
involved here and its impact on our
  • 48:11
community wait a minute so the only
  • 48:14
thing I heard there was one of the
  • 48:16
stickers said better dead than red and
  • 48:19
that was the only one they mentioned was
  • 48:20
there anything no there was two of them
  • 48:22
they mentioned but one of them was
  • 48:24
better dead than red which is really
  • 48:26
scary yeah especially since it's from
  • 48:28
this girl and the other one is America
  • 48:32
    for Americans
  • 48:33
whoo that's scary scary they're dead
  • 48:37
grounded in hate although I don't like
  • 48:39
the name anything front you're just a
  • 48:41
dick you're gonna name you guys the guys
  • 48:43
do a hatred front there's no proof of
  • 48:47
any of anyone anybody's putting the
  • 48:51
sticker up could be a bunch of frat boys
  • 48:52
we've ruined our children here's the
  • 48:56
better dead than red is an old piece
  • 49:00
from the sixties commentaries 50s and
  • 49:03
60s actually I think it came out of the
  • 49:05
50s which was the sticker you know it's
  • 49:08
a bumper sticker because it was like an
  • 49:09
    anti-communist bumper sticker but no
  • 49:11
anti-communism is now scary terror in
  • 49:14
America for Americans is not terrorism
  • 49:17
terrorism shut up scare what is wrong
  • 49:20
with these kids well let's listen to the
  • 49:23
post pried straight Pride Parade and
  • 49:25
most of these kids were arrested for
  • 49:28
    rowdiness
  • 49:34
wave the American flags and dressed in
  • 49:35
all types of costumes more than a
  • 49:37
hundred people took part in the straight
  • 49:39
Pride Parade in Boston participants most
  • 49:44
of them Trump supporters marched from
  • 49:46
Copley Square to City Hall voicing their
  • 49:48
    strong views on traditional American
  • 49:50
    values I don't know I don't know if they
  • 49:53
interviewed all 100 of people but most
  • 49:56
of them Trump supporters this is what
  • 49:58
we're doing now the media is connecting
  • 50:00
Trump supporters to straight people to
  • 50:03
Nazis it's really it's just numr you
  • 50:09
left that way it may be it may be in the
  • 50:13
rest of the report terribly sir that God
  • 50:16
made one man and one woman they get
  • 50:18
together procreate I can't sit down in
  • 50:20
my house no more and be quiet that I
  • 50:23
need to stand up for my godly values if
  • 50:25
the parade was met with even louder
  • 50:27
protesters from the LGBTQ community and
  • 50:30
    NT foe
  • 50:36
police with riot gear on bikes and in
  • 50:39
armored cars were out in full force
  • 50:41
    along the parade route several
  • 50:43
protesters were arrested the rally part
  • 50:50
of this event has been delayed because
  • 50:52
organizers say some of the special
  • 50:53
guests who were scheduled to speak had
  • 50:55
not been able to get through the
  • 50:56
    security checkpoints which makes these
  • 50:58
protesters happy no major injuries were
  • 51:10
reported more than a dozen people were
  • 51:12
arrested straight people not welcome in
  • 51:16
Boston straight people are not welcome
  • 51:18
in Boston you heard it here first
  • 51:20
now I talked to I talked to my local
  • 51:22
Millenial about this kind of stuff I
  • 51:24
actually went back to it was part of the
  • 51:26
    larger discussion about Dave Chappelle
  • 51:28
about the show that we here that we
  • 51:30
discussed on the last episode and I can
  • 51:32
kind of boil it down to this you and I
  • 51:34
John and I turned 55 on Tuesday I become
  • 51:38
50 and I saw that is of course I'm twice
  • 51:40
the age of the young college graduate I
  • 51:43
don't feel old but the basic takeaway is
  • 51:47
I have not evolved this is truly it and
  • 51:53
Dave Chappelle has not evolved he has
  • 51:55
not evolved to the point where he
  • 51:58
understands he just it's not cool to
  • 52:00
make jokes about someone's sexuality of
  • 52:03
course there's a host of other things
  • 52:04
but it's something about you you're
  • 52:07
thinking that mine is not evolved and
  • 52:13
therefore only an uninvolved person like
  • 52:16
you which usually is then described as
  • 52:19
    an age issue
  • 52:21
it's ageism it's always ageism and
  • 52:26
you're a little bit older than me but
  • 52:28
for me it's is very difficult right now
  • 52:31
where on one hand I have to admit I
  • 52:34
don't really know what's at the top of
  • 52:36
the Billboard chart I don't recognize
  • 52:38
half of the people I saw in the video
  • 52:40
music awards of course I mean I'm also
  • 52:42
doing other things I'm not in that
  • 52:44
business like I used to like I used to
  • 52:47
    be
  • 52:47
but I don't yeah and when you're in the
  • 52:49
business admitted it behooves you to
  • 52:51
know all that stuff yeah yeah if you're
  • 52:53
not in that business why would you know
  • 52:55
    all that stuff
  • 52:57
right but that but this is the complaint
  • 53:00
you're not evolved in your thinking so
  • 53:03
I'm literally I'm not keeping up with
  • 53:06
evolution and I and otherwise I would
  • 53:09
never even think a joke like that was
  • 53:10
funny and and and this is this is more
  • 53:15
of this evolving and if you were keeping
  • 53:17
up yeah if you were evolving then you'd
  • 53:20
know how scary it is to see a little
  • 53:24
sticker among three stairs on the campus
  • 53:28
that says better dead than red so
  • 53:32
there's a couple other things in the
  • 53:34
Nats evolution a couple other items gain
  • 53:38
kind of news that pertain to this eric
  • 53:43
mccormack who i like is an actor he's
  • 53:45
the he's will on Will & Grace I've
  • 53:47
always liked that show actively called
  • 53:49
for a blacklist of supporters of
  • 53:51
President Donald Trump in response to a
  • 53:54
    Hollywood Reporter story about the
  • 53:56
    Beverly Hills fundraiser the president's
  • 53:58
going to be attending next week and
  • 54:00
here's his tweet hey Hollywood Reporter
  • 54:02
kindly report on everyone attending this
  • 54:04
event so the rest of us can be clear
  • 54:05
about who we don't want to work with is
  • 54:09
that the evolved thinking is that the is
  • 54:11
that the evolved thinking is a version
  • 54:13
of the McCarthy era where they had black
  • 54:16
    lists and numerous writers Hollywood's
  • 54:20
he in Hollywood in Hollywood this is
  • 54:22
Hollywood turning on itself like like
  • 54:24
once again only now it's over Trump then
  • 54:29
it was over the Russians it was not it
  • 54:31
nothing to do with this country Russian
  • 54:34
agents so it's the same thing basically
  • 54:37
well there's that meanwhile the new Dior
  • 54:41
ad had to be pulled because they clearly
  • 54:45
are not evolved and they put Johnny Depp
  • 54:48
    it's a good ad actually that's although
  • 54:50
Depp is kind of weird and he's promoting
  • 54:52
    Sauvage
  • 54:53
the new Parfum from Dr but the
  • 54:56
commercial is him out you know like in a
  • 54:59
    western landscape he's got
  • 55:01
is a black guitar is out there playing
  • 55:03
guitar he looks all kind of rowdy and
  • 55:05
lower from where's the power cord to
  • 55:08
that guitar that let's play like that
  • 55:09
yeah he can do that but in the
  • 55:13
    background there's that an American
  • 55:15
Indian you know in full headdress
  • 55:18
twirling around and that of course is
  • 55:20
cultural appropriation so they had to
  • 55:22
    pull that I can't believe they're not
  • 55:24
evolved on this stuff so stupid
  • 55:26
who is evolved is Calvin Klein though
  • 55:29
Calvin Klein is really trying to
  • 55:31
relaunch and reinvent its brand with
  • 55:35
plus-size models I speak my truth in my
  • 55:39
hashtag Calvin's uh this been pretty big
  • 55:44
Plus models they're showing in these ads
  • 55:46
so they've literally gone from Kate Moss
  • 55:49
looking anorexic to Marky Mark remember
  • 55:56
a Mark Wahlberg he was the who did the
  • 55:58
Calvin Klein's and now it's big
  • 56:00
plus-size models and which is fine by me
  • 56:03
not okay that's also changed though what
  • 56:07
what what is considered to be a
  • 56:09
beautiful woman Lee shape has changed
  • 56:12
these days women that I have met and
  • 56:15
interact with which seems like kind of a
  • 56:18
standard really want to look like Kim
  • 56:21
Kardashian they want the skinny waist
  • 56:23
the humungous but in the end the breasts
  • 56:26
to match and I'm not evolved know to be
  • 56:33
evolved you have to be a Kardashian fan
  • 56:35
that's basically it and yeah those
  • 56:37
    involved there you go
  • 56:39
so these people are so media yeah you're
  • 56:46
right marketing and everything else that
  • 56:49
they're so proud of not being able to be
  • 56:50
influenced by cuz oh no we do we're
  • 56:53
    immune to advertising this the
  • 56:55
Millennials as the other meanwhile they
  • 56:59
want big giant butts out of the out of
  • 57:01
the blue yeah and it's kind of and the
  • 57:06
the desired female shape has morphed
  • 57:09
many times over the ages the rubenesque
  • 57:13
a woman was considered the height of
  • 57:15
sexiness and that changed that was in
  • 57:17
    the 1600s I think it's more 17s but yeah
  • 57:24
about a hundred years but yeah it's
  • 57:28
being involved it's like they're being
  • 57:30
    they're being brainwashed into I don't
  • 57:34
know into into beyond me all I know is
  • 57:37
when I heard that girl from the
  • 57:38
University student said it's so scary
  • 57:42
about a sticker that says better dead
  • 57:46
than red which refers to being a
  • 57:48
    communist mm-hmm and that's scary
  • 57:51
and she's upset about it and they don't
  • 57:53
know what to do she's beside herself
  • 57:55
this is this is it's gone way too far
  • 58:00
    it's everywhere though and it's
  • 58:02
    propagated through podcast John I've
  • 58:04
created a monster it just keeps on going
  • 58:10
yeah podcasts aren't helping I have to
  • 58:14
call back though your idea of it's the
  • 58:17
    homelessness experience in Disneyland
  • 58:20
this is an exit strategy I think we
  • 58:23
    could create this ride
  • 58:25
now do you sit in the ride or do you I
  • 58:28
think you should also experience for a
  • 58:31
brief moment you stepping in human feces
  • 58:35
home is always stepping in human feces I
  • 58:38
guess some of that are really down and
  • 58:40
out staggering down the street all lean
  • 58:43
to the right is the ride are you going
  • 58:45
to actually experience it like so is it
  • 58:49
right is it I think the most enjoyable
  • 58:51
Disney rides are in a cart you know and
  • 58:54
you got your music going on you're like
  • 58:56
yes but well okay there's two ways of
  • 58:58
going about this I'm a huge connoisseur
  • 59:01
of these things here we go
  • 59:03
there's one is you're in the little car
  • 59:06
two little car or little thing and it's
  • 59:08
going through a homeless encampment and
  • 59:10
people are all animatronic that's like
  • 59:12
Pirates of the Caribbean yeah exactly
  • 59:14
like Pirates of the Caribbean only
  • 59:16
you're not in you may be it could be you
  • 59:17
know in a kind of a river of pee you
  • 59:20
know if you ended kind of stinky pee
  • 59:22
that would be okay but I think generally
  • 59:23
    speaking be better on
  • 59:24
and you go through these things and you
  • 59:26
can see all these different people and
  • 59:27
then they have you know people do you
  • 59:29
have you go through the section with us
  • 59:30
a bunch of politicians trying to come up
  • 59:32
with good solutions and they finally we
  • 59:34
just need more housing you come out you
  • 59:37
come out the other end of it and you
  • 59:39
feel real good about yourself and you
  • 59:40
now you understand you understand now
  • 59:43
you have evolved the other way to go put
  • 59:50
you where some VR glasses or you're in a
  • 59:52
VR situation do you experience the whole
  • 59:55
thing only now it's even more realistic
  • 59:56
not because it's not animatronics it's
  • 59:59
not pi it's not dummies and things like
  • 1:00:02
Pirates of the Caribbean is the actual
  • 1:00:04
videos that you're seeing is surrounded
  • 1:00:07
by the real extension fills in light and
  • 1:00:10
fans blowing just the smell of crap
  • 1:00:13
they're fake yo and you go through the
  • 1:00:18
whole thing and you're come out the
  • 1:00:19
other and pretty much with the same
  • 1:00:21
message but it's just a cheaper way to
  • 1:00:22
do the ride maintenance I personally
  • 1:00:26
like the Pirates of the Caribbean
  • 1:00:28
version I like that a little better I
  • 1:00:32
always like those rides better than the
  • 1:00:34
ones that are because you go through you
  • 1:00:36
know City Hall where the councilmembers
  • 1:00:37
are also in there pontificating they you
  • 1:00:40
could do know it here's Los Angeles and
  • 1:00:43
here's Austin you could have a couple
  • 1:00:44
show some differences oh yeah right yeah
  • 1:00:48
you good you could take the car through
  • 1:00:49
one place or another and there's you
  • 1:00:51
know guys begging for money in different
  • 1:00:54
ways along the ride people keep coming
  • 1:00:58
up to your cart skate for money yeah
  • 1:01:02
we're going to hell for this but but I
  • 1:01:06
am actively actively working on this
  • 1:01:09
problem in Austin I'm meeting the CEO of
  • 1:01:12
community first village not that next
  • 1:01:15
month Monday after next and I'm gonna
  • 1:01:17
interview him maybe we'll pull something
  • 1:01:19
out for the show so he's doing something
  • 1:01:21
that's working so I'm interested in that
  • 1:01:23
we could incorporate them into the ride
  • 1:01:24
yeah I'll pitch him and with that it's
  • 1:01:31
time for me to thank you for your
  • 1:01:33
courage and say in the morning to you
  • 1:01:34
the man who put the C in the comi Red
  • 1:01:36
    John see
  • 1:01:37

  • 1:01:40

  • 1:01:43

  • 1:01:47
morning to the trolls in the troll room
  • 1:01:48
which you can find that no agenda stream
  • 1:01:51

  • 1:01:56
listen to us stream live and troll me in
  • 1:01:59
real time in the chat room which we
  • 1:02:00
    affectionately call the troll room
  • 1:02:02
there's many shows right after our show
  • 1:02:04
is done people discover shows this way
  • 1:02:07
they'll stick around listen to what's
  • 1:02:08
coming up next and then before you know
  • 1:02:09
it you're kind of listening all the
  • 1:02:11
times you can drop into this no agenda
  • 1:02:14
stream comm 24 hours a day
  • 1:02:16
sample a new show listen to it interact
  • 1:02:18
with people and then obviously you can
  • 1:02:21
subscribe to them or keep listening it
  • 1:02:23
is a fun place to be certainly if you
  • 1:02:26
live under a bridge and I'd also like to
  • 1:02:28
say in the morning to the artist who
  • 1:02:30
brought us the artwork for episode 11 68
  • 1:02:33
he's no secret to you he's Darren
  • 1:02:37
O'Neill is this a hat trick for Darren
  • 1:02:38
has he done it again is it now three in
  • 1:02:40
a row it's possible he brought us a
  • 1:02:44
great take off of the eighteen to eight
  • 1:02:48
    this is the let kids
  • 1:02:50
canden avian kids vote at eight years
  • 1:02:53
old so he had these it was really good
  • 1:02:57
was we can a mote let us vote and handle
  • 1:02:59
these kids and he dressed them up and
  • 1:03:01
was a Che Guevara t-shirt I was really
  • 1:03:10
quite disturbing but a beautiful piece
  • 1:03:12
it was disturbing we see the three in a
  • 1:03:16
row let me see who did 66 oops I have a
  • 1:03:22
feeling he had three in a row didn't he
  • 1:03:23
no Mike Riley had okay so he's had two
  • 1:03:26
in a row he could go for the hat trick
  • 1:03:27
    for today
  • 1:03:28
by the title of the show was he's
  • 1:03:30
listening he might be on me you know
  • 1:03:31
today is a holiday weekend there's a lot
  • 1:03:34
of people aren't in the United States
  • 1:03:36
yes this is true well there are 80
  • 1:03:38
percent of our audiences in the United
  • 1:03:40
States yeah but I like to talk to like
  • 1:03:42
like I'm talking to the whole world I'd
  • 1:03:43
be talking to the whole world I'm just
  • 1:03:45
saying we have a lot of
  • 1:03:47
people United say so when they when the
  • 1:03:48
numbers go down it's because of the
  • 1:03:50
United States well it is any place that
  • 1:03:51
Europe should be stepping it up yeah we
  • 1:03:56
wish well this is highly appreciated
  • 1:04:00
from Darren he's always always doing
  • 1:04:04
work for us one place or the other if
  • 1:04:07
he's not doing priests dreams he's
  • 1:04:09
working with voids Iran the back end
  • 1:04:11
with Ben Rose the God knows these guys
  • 1:04:13

  • 1:04:21
value system you know you can help us
  • 1:04:24
out a lot just provide some value this
  • 1:04:27
is a great way and we love the artwork
  • 1:04:29
we love you know jingles all kinds of
  • 1:04:32
things that people contribute and we
  • 1:04:33
also really appreciate people who feel
  • 1:04:36
that their way to contribute is through
  • 1:04:38
a financial donation just like Hollywood
  • 1:04:40
we want to thank them we give them
  • 1:04:42

  • 1:09:08
    constructed page that says oops
  • 1:09:10
something here doesn't exist and on the
  • 1:09:13
right in the same style of as the rest
  • 1:09:16
of the site is Hillary in front of the
  • 1:09:19
White House next to some American flags

  • 1:10:05

  • 1:10:07

  • 1:10:12
that's Brendon $237 some long note USA I
  • 1:10:26
am pleased to report that after three
  • 1:10:28
years of indulging in your crack potting
  • 1:10:30
    buzz killing Trump apologizing
  • 1:10:32
    bug-eating dimension straddling antics
  • 1:10:35
and being on a $4 per week subscription
  • 1:10:39
for the majority of that time plus a few
  • 1:10:41
larger donations thrown in for good
  • 1:10:43
    measure
  • 1:10:43
I can finally stake my claim to a seat
  • 1:10:46
at the No Agenda Roundtable I would like
  • 1:10:50
to be known as Sir Beatty Dark Knight of
  • 1:10:53
    the morphogenetic field
  • 1:10:56
morpho genetic field Dark Knight of the
  • 1:11:00
Morpho genetic field is that on there I
  • 1:11:03
think it is I believe so I think I saw
  • 1:11:05
that coming earlier today the first
  • 1:11:07
thing I'd like to ask for is a major
  • 1:11:10
shot of Mental Health karma from my twin
  • 1:11:12
brother Patrick he has a rare disorder
  • 1:11:15
    called H PPD hallucinogen persisting
  • 1:11:19
    perception disorder it's that's
  • 1:11:21
interesting well it's a mental illness
  • 1:11:23
    as caused primarily by using
  • 1:11:25
hallucinogenic drugs like LSD I've heard
  • 1:11:27
of this we still like I said like a
  • 1:11:29
flashback is that basic is a like a funk
  • 1:11:31
for night where you have flashbacks
  • 1:11:32
    constant oh geez
  • 1:11:35
    the symptoms are pretty straightforward
  • 1:11:36
    constantly experiencing visual
  • 1:11:39
distortions and patterns similar to the
  • 1:11:41
can you experience while on LSD long
  • 1:11:44
after you stop using the drug it can
  • 1:11:47
    cause an unbelievably painful chronic
  • 1:11:49
head pressure which is far worse than
  • 1:11:52
any migraine according to my brother
  • 1:11:54
he's a twin hmm unfortunately this
  • 1:11:57
condition has led to my brother being
  • 1:12:00
hospitalized twice in the last six
  • 1:12:02
months there are medications that can
  • 1:12:04
mute the symptoms but there is no known
  • 1:12:07
cure if I know agender producers out
  • 1:12:10
there have experience with it or
  • 1:12:12
suggestions on how to deal with it I'd
  • 1:12:14
really appreciate hearing from you email
  • 1:12:17

  • 1:12:52
feeling that there's a large section of
  • 1:12:55
her audience that will have some ideas
  • 1:12:57
as I see what's handed to me sometimes
  • 1:13:00
in envelopes at meetups s I think people
  • 1:13:03
know what's going on but this doesn't
  • 1:13:05
this sounds I mean I've heard of LSD
  • 1:13:07
flashbacks but to have them like
  • 1:13:09
    continuously what that's a true
  • 1:13:11
nightmare yeah have you ever dropped
  • 1:13:14

  • 1:13:34
like mac and cheese by Iran Nicolette
